Now Glutamine Powder review

L-Glutamine is a nonessential amino acid that the body produces on it own. However, if you workout you body is depleting it natural stores of glutamine and a supplement is the easiest and fastest way to add glutamine back into your diet. You can read more about the benefits of glutamine by clicking here.
The NOW Glutamine powder does not have a taste which makes it easy to mix with shakes (or just drink it with water). The NOW brand puts out quality supplements and their glutamine powder is now exception. I personally take the glutamine right after my workouts and have noticed an improvement in my recovery time. If you are currently not taking glutamine then I recommend supplementing it with your diet or consuming the foods recommended in the link to the article above.

Ab Flex Review

The Ab Flex is very similar product to the 6 Second Abs. The Ab Flex machine offers six different exercises that apply direct resistance to the abdominal muscles. If you are not familiar with 6 Second Abs, this exercise equipment works in the same fashion you place the exerciser against your abdominals as you crunch forward. As your chest moves toward your thighs, in the crunching movement, the Ab Flex will provide resistance to the exercise thus allowing you to strengthen and develop the abdominal muscles.

Denise Austin Powerbelt Walking System

Denise Austin's Powerbelt takes traditional walking and spices it up a bit to give you a full upper body workout. Using the Powerbelt Walking System can help you burn up to 71% more calories then walking without one. If you are not familiar with the Powerbelt, it is a similar concept to walking with hand weights. Unlike hand weights, the key advantage that the Powerbelt has is that if you get tired you can set the resistance handles down and continue your walk or jog. Another key advantage is that it does not put additional strain on the back and shoulders that hand weights have been known to do.

Promax Protein Bar Review

My biggest issue with Protein bars is that a lot of them do not live up to the same standards of quality as a protein shake. For example, if you are on a strict diet where you are restricting your sugar intake, you really have to pay close attention to the ingredients in a lot of the protein bars that are available. One of the things that I do not like about the Promax Protein bars is that they contain Corn Syrup. Corn Syrup is not a healthy sugar and there are other good sugar substitutes out there that can be used to sweaten the bar. Another negative ingredient is the "enriched wheat flour". Anything enriched means the nutrients were stripped out of it during the processing and had to be added back later later.

Compared to other protein bars, like the Lean Body Gold protein bars, the Promax protein bars are just too high in sugar to recommend. 34 grams of sugar compared to Lean Body's 7 grams is a huge margin of difference. Another downside of the Promax protein bars is that the protein amount is also a little lower then some of the other higher quality brands. I personally need more than 20 grams of protein per meal so the Promax bars just don't live up to my expectations. I still recommend a protein shake or MRP over a protein bar but if you need a protein bar because you have to eat on the run, then I would recommend taking a look at some of the other options out there.

Odwalla bar review

Odwalla makes one of the best tasting protein bars that is naturally sweetened so that you do no have to worry about any artificial sweeteners added to your diet (sweetened with a natural soy nut butter). Besides the great taste, I really like the texture of the bar which kind of reminds me of a granola bar.
The Odwalla bar also contains 16 grams of protein and uses a vegetarian soy protein that contains 8 essential amino acids. Unfortunately for me 16 grams of protein is a little low for a meal but for my wife the amount of protein is perfect. If your diet requires a higher protein intake then my best recommendation is to eat at least two bars per meal or use the protein bar as a snack in-between meals. There are other great tasting protein bars available, like the Lean Body Gold, that offer a higher amount of protein that would fit more to a bodybuilders diet. However, I highly recommend you at least give these bars a try to see how great a naturally sweetened protein bar can taste!

Door Gym Review

Unlike traditional pull-up bars, the Door Gym gives you the ability to perform a variety of different chin-up, sit-up and stretching exercises. While the standard pull-up bar has only one way for you to do chin-ups, the Door Gym also includes close grip handles so that you can isolate the muscles in the middle back. The additional hand adjustments offered by this exercise equipment give you the ability to fully train all areas of your back and biceps. Another great benefit is that the Door Gym offers a lot more than the ability to do several different types of chin-ups. If you are looking for a good pushup and sit-up bar, all you have to do is simply relocate the Door Gym to the bottom of the frame. The Door Gym will support your feet for sit-ups and can also be used to workout the chest muscles as a pushup bar.

Drop Sets

Drop sets are a great way to shock your body into growth and they can be used with just about any body part that you feel needs a good push. Adding shock training to your workouts not only helps you get over a plateau, it is also a great way to make your workouts a lot more interesting. Nothing is more boring then doing the same thing day after day and year after year. Spice up your workouts with drop sets and you may be pleasantly surprised by how your body responds.I like to use leg exercises for a lot of my shock training examples so to stay true to form I'll use leg extensions as an example for drop sets. To start off the exercise, you will want to use weight that you can normally lift 8 to 10 reps with. Remember, all sets are preformed to failure so you are cheating if you can do 12 reps and you stop at 8. Start the exercise off by lifting the weight to failure (hopefully somewhere around 8 to 10 reps). Once you reach failure, without moving from the exercise machine, drop the weight 10 to 20 pounds.

Killer leg workout - 50's shock training

If you find your leg workouts getting stale then it is time to spice things up. One little routine that I like to do that kills my legs is a little torture program that I call 50's. 50's are a killer leg workout exercise that are executed on a leg press. As you probably already guessed it, you will be doing 50 reps for each set. Now to begin with you will want to chose weight that is quite a bit less then your normal leg press weight. To give you an example, on normal workout I usually use between 16 and 18 plates on the leg press for about 8 to 10 reps per set (a plate = 45 lbs). When I do 50's I will use around 8 to 10 plates for the exercise. The key is to save 50's for the end of the leg press workout. Lets use an example where you will do four sets of leg press in your workout. In our routine, we will do two sets with our regular weight and reps and save the last two sets for our shock training (if you never have done 50's before then I would recommend three regular set and save the last set for 50's).

Forearm Workouts

One of the biggest mistakes that I see in the gym is that a lot of people will not train their entire body over a week’s period of time. A common problem is that a lot of guys will train their upper body while passing on the leg workouts. I know leg workouts can be tuff but if you want to avoid looking like a light bulb, you have to do them. Besides, I am a firm believe that increasing your leg mass helps you increase your overall muscle mass in your upper body too. However, legs are not the only body part that experiences this problem. Another common body part that does not get trained is the forearms. I don’t know if a lot of people just don’t like to train their forearms or forget to do them but it seems to be a common body part that is overlooked.
