Promax Protein Bar Review

My biggest issue with Protein bars is that a lot of them do not live up to the same standards of quality as a protein shake. For example, if you are on a strict diet where you are restricting your sugar intake, you really have to pay close attention to the ingredients in a lot of the protein bars that are available. One of the things that I do not like about the Promax Protein bars is that they contain Corn Syrup. Corn Syrup is not a healthy sugar and there are other good sugar substitutes out there that can be used to sweaten the bar. Another negative ingredient is the "enriched wheat flour". Anything enriched means the nutrients were stripped out of it during the processing and had to be added back later later.

Compared to other protein bars, like the Lean Body Gold protein bars, the Promax protein bars are just too high in sugar to recommend. 34 grams of sugar compared to Lean Body's 7 grams is a huge margin of difference. Another downside of the Promax protein bars is that the protein amount is also a little lower then some of the other higher quality brands. I personally need more than 20 grams of protein per meal so the Promax bars just don't live up to my expectations. I still recommend a protein shake or MRP over a protein bar but if you need a protein bar because you have to eat on the run, then I would recommend taking a look at some of the other options out there.
